At the University of North Texas, our focus in the doctoral Counseling Psychology program is developing well-rounded professional psychologists in an inclusive and student-oriented community. The word clinic derives from the Latin clinicus, a bed-ridden person or a physician who attends patients sick in bed. Both diagnosis and treatment are emphasized through hands-on engagement. Although there has been a blurring of the boundaries between the disciplines, each clinical field has a traditional approach to therapy and a different training style.
