Y. in 1789 The French Revolution (1789) eventually led to a war with England, Washington refused the recommendations of either his Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, (pro-French), or his Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton (pro-British) John Paul Jones: Sailor, Hero, Father of the American Navy. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
