People aren’t Pentecostal just because they speak in tongues, they are Pentecostal because the trajectory of their entire lives has been re-oriented by the power of the Spirit. Global statistics are understandably less precise than these just cited for the United States, but it is agreed by those who have investigated Pentecostalism’s growth that Pentecostalism is having an enormous impact on the shape of Christianity. I doubt that now, but I do predict a greater self-consciousness of a Holiness bloc of denominations grouped under the CHA, where there is already very close cooperation in such areas as publishing and preparing Christian education materials.

It was also typical of the McCluhanesque culture of the 1960s in which much of the charismatic movement was born. Inevitably, it also meant abandoning any attempt at rigorous theology-that was not to happen for over a decade. This latter had too often been the mark of the oppressive other, the traditionalists. In its place, charismatic spokesmen such as Langstaff (a Methodist minister) and Tony Smits (a CRC pastor then working in Canberra) spoke of 'the "new thing" God is doing'.8 The emphasis was on 'now', or 'present truth', as Smits notes in the first article in VM MIRACLES - Expect Something Wild: 25 Inspirational True Stories of God's Unbridled Power (The Art of Charismatic Christian Faith Series Book 1).

Francis de Sales draw his inspiration from Calvin’s Institutes The Forgotten Blessing: Ancient Words That Heal Generational Wounds? There may be individual Christians within Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches who would have no part in such a world-wide movement, but this is what the Charismatic Movement is helping to bring about. This is why we need to be aware of these things and seek to understand what the Scriptures teach regarding the errors of the Charismatic Movement Loving Your City Into the Kingdom: City-Reaching Strategies for a 21st Century Revival. His premillennialism brought him into contact with the growing number whose convictions were moving in that direction and led him to accept the invitation of Henry Drummond (d. 1860) (Drummond later became an Irvingite leader Hearing God's Voice Made Simple (The Kingdom of God Made Simple Book 3). These testimonies will be taken, with a few exceptions as noted, from the apologetical books and magazines of the movement, written by people who are favorable to it and who obviously publish only that material which seems to support their position. Further, we shall make only minimal use of narrowly Pentecostal sources, confining ourselves chiefly to Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox participants in the contemporary "charismatic revival." In his 1998 book New Apostolic Churches, Wagner and numerous other religious leaders spelled out a vision for a reorganization of the charismatic evangelical world under the authority of apostles and prophets and new "Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare" techniques for taking dominion over geographic areas. Wagner's movement was originally going to be described as post-denominational but due to objections from partners like Jack Hayford, Wagner named it the New Apostolic Reformation Pentecostal Potpourri.
